'It remains a frustration to hear GENERATIONS referred to as an "Elseworld" story. DC put the ELSEWORLD bullet on the covers against my wishes. The whole thing was an IMAGINARY STORY, as declared in the logo. And it was important that it was "imaginary". The whole notion of including so many of the continuity lapses from the old books (Superboy can fly, early Superman can't, etc) simply doesn't work if it's an "Elseworld". And, of course rub salt in the wound they even included a scene from GENERATIONS in the montage that introduced "hypertime". GAH!!!' - John Byrne

(I was waiting for someone like cyberghostface to say something first, but since they didn't I thought I would post this here)

Telltale Games have announced several new titles and release dates for upcoming episodes of their currently running series.

Episode 3 of Guardians of the Galaxy, More than a Feeling, will be released on August 22nd, 2017. Episode 2 of Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2 is expected to be released in the same month.

Speaking of August, a sequel to Batman has been unveiled, titled Batman: The Enemy Within. Said sequel will follow up on the tease from the end of the last series, where Bruce Wayne's mysterious and unhinged ally(?), John Doe, escaped from Arkham. Episode 1, The Enigma, is stated to come out on August 8th, 2017.

After three seasons and two spinoffs, 2018's The Walking Dead: Season 4 will be Telltale's last venture into their popular The Walking Dead video games. Series regular Michelle Hutchinson will return to voice recurring protagonist Clementine.

Perhaps most surprisingly, Telltale have revealed they're working on a second season for their critically acclaimed The Wolf Among Us, based on Bill Willingham's Fables. Not much is known so far beyond the release window, but Adam Harrington and Erin Yvette will reprise their roles as Bigby Wolf and Snow White, respectively.

And now for something completely different. A digital-only title from Kodansha Comics, Wave, Listen to Me!, from the creator of Blade of the Immortal. Enjoy, especially if you wish to see something not superhero related or fantasy-based. Just something human.

The first chapter is available to read for free, thus the amount of pages below. Feel free to check them out on the site here though.

As expected, the new Justice League trailer dropped at Comic Con and I absolutely loved it, especially towards the end when we get a better glimpse of the action. At the moment, I think it feels like a really good blend of Whedon's kind of dialogue based apporach and Snyder's epic action which should be insane to watch. And it really seems like something you need to see on the big screen, which is a plus.

The trailer is below and while it does, quite justifyibly, have an initial heavy focus on Wonder Woman, I thought it had a couple of really promising glimpses of Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash in action. Best of all, they all feel epic in what they can do. So here's hoping this movie manages to catch the League of Gods feeling that made JLA so unique.

"Another small conceit shaped GENERATIONS, however, beyond the notion of exploring what might happen to super-heroes and their friends if they aged in 'real time.' Each 'chapter' of G1 attempted to capture something of the tone of the decades in which those stories might have been published - the goofiness of many comics in the '50s for instance, or the 'grim and gritty' milieu of the '80s." - John Byrne

He and the gladiator Achillia stood back-to-back, surrounded by some of the finest soldiers in the Roman army.

Above them, the emperor Nero (who'd called for their deaths) watched.

Achillia and Antonius fought, striking and being struck.

Then Antonius turned around. )

One reason I'm liking Secret Empire is that even though the premise is so dark and gloomy, the books don't wallow in that tone. There seems to be an all-around effort to inject moments of humor and hopefulness, to keep things balanced.

Case in point )

A lot of those early Wildstorm books were, on some level, about who really runs the world, and who gets crushed or warped in the small spaces between those giant cogs. Yes, they were big technicolor superhero books, I don’t want to oversell the metaphor or anything, but a lot of those characters who rubbed up against The True Nature of Things and got broken. So I said a lot of this to Jim [Lee], off the cuff, and that’s when he closed the deal and let me run with it, really. -- Warren Ellis

JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS #26, the final issue of the series, is not the end of the story. Most of the issue is the Holograms looking for a missing Kimber. A slightly-concussed Kimber hallucinates being next to a volcano, a Shout Out to the Jem episode "Hot Time In Hawaii."

Also, I was wrong and the Misfits AREN'T in Hawaii, just Stormer. Riot doesn't appear in this issue, so it looks like Jerrica turned down the "We should date each other to make Jem and Rio jealous, and I'm awesome" offer.

Today at SDCC, a variety of new comics were announced from various publishers. Here are some of them.

At DC's "Dark Matter" panel, several new books were announced. The first is "The Terrifics" by Jeff Lemire and Ivan Reis. It's a Fantastic Four-esque book that features Mr.Terrifc, Phantom Girl, Plastic Man, and Metamorpho. It's described focusing on family, each hero having a similar black and white themed costume design. It was suggested by Scott Snyder that Plastic Man's new costume has a connection to his son, Offspring. Lemire is also doing a one-shot for Metal called "Hawkman: Found," and hints he may do a Hawkman ongoing later on.

http://insidepulse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/DC-Comics-Rebirth-the-Terrifics-not-Outsiders-300x158.jpg

Justin Jordan and Philip Tan are doing "Brimstone," a new horror book part of Dark Matter. The character can be seen on the far right of the Dark Matter poster for SDCC 2017, next to teleporter Sideways.

Scott Synder and a DC workshop writer, Tony Patrick, are writing a Duke Tomas book called "Batman: The Signal". Duke is now going to be known as the Signal and will operate in daylight.

Young Animal is doing a crossover with the Rebirth books through four one shots that will impact everything later on.

Meanwhile, Marvel announced at the "Secret Empire" panel that "Captain America," going forward, will be helmed by the "Daredevil" team of Mark Waid and Christ Samnee starting in #695. This will be a back-to-basics approach, with Steve wearing his classic costume and traveling the country to get input from people. No details on how Secret Empire's ending allows this, but we'll probably find out soon. Marvel also revealed that several series link Power Pack, Dazzler, and Darkhawk will be getting Marvel Legacy one-shots that continue each series for one issue. This allows the company to continue obscure and fan-favorite characters without starting new series.

And finally, IDW announced they've partnered with SEGA to do Sonic the Hedgehog comics starting next year. I know many here at scans daily were anticipating and hoping for this, so I hope this helps.

Honestly, all of these announcements are killer. I am particularly excited about "The Terrifics," as it's bringing back Plastic Man and Metamorpho.

USAvengers abroad is gonna be so much fun. It's by Al Ewing and Paco Medina, so you don't need me to tell you it's good. -- Nick Spencer

How the team will make it through [Secret Empire] – they won’t, not in their current form. If they did, it wouldn’t be much of an arc, because there’d be no consequences. So not all the team members who come out of this particular crucible are going to be exactly the same as when they went in. And they might not all come out! Cannonball, for example, is a hundred per cent dead. I would never lie about something like that to promote a surprise reveal where he turns out to actually be alive. Never. And I would also never lie about lying about that, or lie about lying about lying about that, so I hope anyone reading this knows exactly how trustworthy I am when it comes to Cannonball’s unfortunate, and definite, death. -- Al Ewing

Mikel [Janin] is widely known for drawing the sexiest men in comics. The idea of doing a buffer, sexier Riddler — I like that. I think he’s a reflection of Batman and I think of him like a scary, evil Batman. Like Bruce Wayne without a conscience. -- Tom King

There had been considerable speculation for some time as to the state of the longest-running North American licensed comic book ever since January, but now it's official - the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series has ended, at least in its current form, and likely moving to a new publisher.

I wasn't intending on posting anything really regarding Secret Empire. After Civil War II: Enchanted Christmas, I was pretty done with Marvel events. However, there was just one moment from Secret Empire that grabbed my attention, because its a point that I constantly brought up a while back about how Spencer treated two certain characters...

Also, yes, I am in the page limit. 1/3 left over.

If I told you ‘Anyone could die, honest!’... well, you wouldn't believe me. It'd be just more high stakes, like in every issue of every cape comic ever. But if I tell you that someone will die, that it's prophesied, baked in, suddenly there really are high stakes. One of these people is going to go to the far shore and not come back. And you're going to fall in love with all of these characters, so it's going to matter when it happens. -- Al Ewing

"I really love to fuck with genre. With Sisters of Sorrow we’ve created what presumably just looks like high camp and kickass action, but right below the surface, we reveal three-dimensional women, struggling with real-life abuse and the scars of deep emotional pain. At its core, weaved in and out of the action-packed narrative and amazing artwork, Sisters of Sorrow is about abused women empowering themselves. We actually get to tell stories that matter. Like with Sons of Anarchy, it might be the flash of guns and leather that entice you to show up, but it’s the characters and their struggle that keeps you coming back."

- Kurt Sutter
